Low Frequency Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance with SQUID Amplifiers*
نویسنده
چکیده
The dc SQ U ID (Superconducting QUantum Interference Device) can be configured as an ampli fier of spin-echos with a noise temperature of approximately 10 mK (f/1 MHz) at an operating temperature of 1.5 K. A Fourier transform spectrometer based on a SQ U ID with a superconducting input circuit and operated in a flux-locked loop is used to obtain nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectra in a broadband mode over the bandwith 0 -1 MHz. Spin-echo spectra of 14N in N H 4C 104 reveal sharp NQ R resonances, obtained simultaneously, at 17.4, 38.8 and 56.2 kHz. At 1.5 K, the measured longitudinal and transverse relaxation times Tx and T2 for the 38.8 kHz transi tion are 63 ± 3 ms and 22 + 2 ms, respectively.

Magnetic resonance spectrometer with a de SQUID detector
We describe a dc superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) based magnetic resonance spectrometer particularly suited to measurements in the frequency range of 100 kHz to several megahertz. Results are presented for nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) of boron-II in boron nitride at 4.2 K, yielding {uQ = 1467 ± 2 kHz. We also present a direct measurement of the methyl group tunneling fr...

We report the application of our dc SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) spectrometer [C. Connor, J. Chang, and A. Pines, Rev. Sci. Instrum. 61, 1059( 1990)] to nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) studies of aluminum-27, and boron-II in crystalline and glassy solids. Our results give eqQ /h = 2.38 MHz and 1] = 0.0 for a-A120 3 at 4.2 K. For the natural mineral petalite (LiAISi4 01...

The use of very low noise magnetometers based on Superconducting QUantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs) enables nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in microtesla magnetic fields. An untuned superconducting flux transformer coupled to a SQUID achieves a magnetic field noise of 10(-15) T Hz(-1/2). The frequency-independent response of this magnetometer combined wi...
متن کاملAdjustable SQUID-resonator direct coupling in microwave SQUID multiplexer for TES microcalorimeter array
We have succeeded in the first demonstration of a simple and accurate resonator-superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) coupling for microwave SQUID multiplexers. A simple theory shows our direct coupling with adjustable fractional inductance in the SQUID loop can decrease the deviation of resonance frequencies from designed values in contrast to a conventional inductive coupling. O...
متن کاملDetermination of the absolute sign of nuclear quadrupole interactions by laser radio-frequency double-resonance experiments.
The interaction between the quadrupole moment of nuclear spins I > + with the electric-field-gradient (EFG) tensor leads to a splitting of the energy of the nuclear spin states. We show how the combination of laser and radio-frequency irradiation allows measurements of nuclear spin transitions in quadrupolar systems that are, in contrast to purely magnetic experiments, sensitive to the absolute...
